Victorian State Committee Donates $5000 to Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation

THE Victorian State Committee of FPA Australia is playing its part in helping the lives of sick children,
donating $5000 to the Royal Children’s Hospital Burns Unit at a special presentation in Melbourne yesterday.

The cheque, raised through the kindness of Victorian members of FPA Australia, was presented to RCH
Foundation Executive Director, Mr Brian Mallon, on Tuesday at the hospital’s Parkville headquarters.

Presenting the donation to the RCH Burns Unit, was FPA Australia Victorian State Committee Chairman, Mr Andre Mierzwa, and committee members, Mr Norm Winn and Mr Dan Amarant.

“The generous contribution by FPA Australia’s Victorian State Committee to the Foundation is an example of the overwhelming kindness shown by people in this country. It’s what make’s us so unique,” Mr Mallon said.
“We are so very grateful to have support from such an important organisation like FPA Australia, and we offer our heartfelt thanks and praise the Victorian State Committee members for their generosity.

“This donation will really make a difference in the lives of sick children and their families.” Mr Mallon has been involved with the RCH Foundation for almost 15 years and has been the Executive Director since 1998.
The $5000 donation was raised at last year’s Victorian State Committee Annual Dinner, with the fundraising initiative headed up by Mr Amarant and fellow member, Mrs Suzie Cowan.

The partnership between the RCH Burns Unit and FPA Australia’s Victorian State Committee has been on-going, with representatives from the RCH regularly attending the annual dinner over the past five years.

Staff of the RCH Burns Unit have made several presentations to the annual dinner attendees, outlining where donations are allocated throughout the unit and how it is helping children in need.

Mr Mierzwa said the Victorian State Committee was keen to play a prominent role with the RCH Burns Unit moving forward. “We are delighted to be able to donate a significant amount of money to such a worthy foundation through the kindness of Victorian members of FPA Australia,” Mr Mierzwa said.

“The Royal Children’s Hospital Burns Unit helps save the lives of many unfortunate children who pass through it every year. “By FPA Australia’s Victorian State Committee making a donation to such a beneficial cause, it ensures these children and their families are supported through difficult times.”

FPA Australia Chief Executive Officer, Mr Scott Williams, praised the kindness shown by members of the Victorian State Committee.

“It’s great to see our Victorian members digging deep to help the RCH Burns Unit, and continuing a worthy relationship with such an important foundation,” Mr Williams said.
